The Directors of Therapeutic PATHWAYS are Jane S.
Howard, Ph.D., and Coleen R. Sparkman, M.A. They directly supervise Therapeutic
PATHWAYS Clinical Staff. In addition, the Directors make regularly
scheduled observations at the child's home or school.
The Clinical Team:

Is selected with regards to the needs of the particular child

Is composed of a Clinical Assistant and a Clinical Supervisor
or a Clinical Assistant and Clinical Supervisor Consultant
-
Is typically rotated approximately every 12-24 months
-
Clinical Supervisor Consultant or Clinical Supervisor
provides overall program direction
- Clinical Assistants are teamed with Clinical Supervisor Consultants
and Clinical Supervisors to manage and oversee the day-to-day aspects
of treatment
The Clinical Team's responsibilities:

Manages the treatment program on a day-to-day basis

Observes the child an average of two times each week (home
or school)

Schedules, trains, and supervises Instructional Assistants

Performs data analyses and interpretation
-
Makes additions, deletions, and modifications to the child's
program

Conducts the staffings held with the Instructional Assistants
and parents
-
Periodically provides direct services to the child for diagnostic
and training purposes. This level of involvement promotes communication
and involvement among all individuals of the treatment team

Clarifies questions by the parents and funding agencies about
the child's program

Reviews the child's progress with the Program Directors and/or
the Clinical Supervisor Consultant
- Meets with Parents to design and review programs for implementation
outside therapy hours
Instructional Assistants:
-
Typically college students who are at least 18 years of age
-
Have completed some undergraduate coursework in Child Development,
Psychology, Speech and Language, or Special Education
-
Had fingerprints cleared by State and Federal agencies
-
Before working independently, each Instructional Assistant has completed
20-25 hours of training and passed a set of Minimum Competencies
-
Required to attend ongoing workshops and trainings provided by Therapeutic
PATHWAYS

Are encouraged to increase their expertise and responsibilities by
passing the entire range of Therapeutic PATHWAYS
competency tests
Some experienced and especially skilled Instructional Assistants are
promoted to Lead Instructional Assistant. Lead Instructional Assistants
are recruited by Clinical Supervisors. In addition to providing direct
services to the child, Lead Instructional Assistants assist the Clinical
Team in the scheduling and training of Instructional Assistants, material
preparation, data analyses, etc.
